Inside FHFA’s New Strategic Plan: What Lenders Need to Know and Why Your Feedback Matters – 10/21/2025 Weekly Mortgage Update segment

In this podcast segment, Alice Alvey dives into the Federal Housing Finance Agency’s (FHFA) newly released 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, a major shift from previous policy directions. The plan focuses on anti-fraud initiatives, deregulation, and boosting housing supply, marking a move away from the DEI and affordability emphasis of the prior administration.

Alice emphasizes the importance of industry engagement during the open comment period (through November 5th) and cautions lenders not to miss the opportunity to help shape the plan’s implementation. Host David Lykken and the team reflect on how this plan signals the FHFA’s current thinking and what it means for strategic planning in 2026 and beyond.
