Urging Action on the Homebuyers Privacy Protection Act of 2024 – MBA Mortgage Minute by Adam DeSanctis

[Adam] Hi, I'm Adam DeSanctis. This is the Mortgage Minute, the latest news from the Mortgage Bankers Association. MBA this week issued a Mortgage Action Alliance Call to Action that urges you, MBA members, to contact your Senators to vote for the Senators Hagerty Reed Amendment that would add the Homebuyers Privacy Protection Act of 2024, also known as the Trigger Leads Bill, to the Fiscal Year 2025 National Defense Authorization Act, or NDAA. Since last year, we have worked to build bipartisan momentum in Congress for legislation to curb the abusive use of trigger leads  and a vote in the Senate to add the trigger leads bill to this year's NDAA would be a critical step towards curtailing this abusive practice. MBA and our coalition partners are working with Senators Hagerty and Reid, the lead Senate bill sponsors, as well as key committee leaders to advance this proposal when the Senate debates the NDAA  and potentially votes on amendments later this month.
